The people of Barbados will be celebrating 50 years of Independence on November 20, 2016. Throughout the year, to commemorate this auspicious occasion, the High Commission will be organising a number of activities. On Sunday, April 17, 2016 at 4:00 p.m., the High Commission launched Barbados’ 50th Anniversary celebrations in Canada with a special church service at Parkdale United Church, 429 Parkdale Avenue, Ottawa. The service was conducted by Rev. Dr. Anthony Bailey. Light refreshments were served following the service.
