Omofuma Family & Friends Association showcases African food at Fab Fest – Event organized by the Rideau-Rockliffe Community Resource Centre
by Anthony Omofuma
This year’s Feb Fest was an unforgettable celebration of culture, food, and community, and we were proud to be part of it! The Omofuma Family & Friends Association
hosted an interactive stand where we taught community members how to prepare traditional fufu and egusi soup with chicken.
Visitors had the chance to learn step-by-step cooking techniques, ask questions, and, of course, enjoy the delicious taste of the dishes. The feedback was truly heartwarming. Many attendees shared how much they enjoyed the flavours, while others expressed excitement about trying the recipes at home. Beyond the cooking, the atmosphere was filled with joy. We danced, laughed, and celebrated together, creating beautiful memories and strengthening community bonds.
A big thank you to everyone who visited our stand and took the time to engage with us during the event. Your curiosity and thoughtful questions were truly appreciated. We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the dedicated officials and tireless volunteers of the Rideau–Rockcliffe Community Centre for their incredible support, hard work, and commitment to making the day a success. Their organisation and friendly assistance ensured everything ran smoothly and created a welcoming atmosphere for all.
We also want to express a special appreciation to Councillor Rawlson King of Ward 13 for stopping by our booth. His visit and words of encouragement meant a great deal to our team, highlighting the importance of community engagement and local support.
