The Nigerian Professionals and Business Network (NPBN), held another in its popular quarterly breakfast lecture series on Saturday 26 April at the downtown Sheraton Hotel. The event featured two keynote speakers: Shereen Benzvy Miller, Assistant Deputy Minister, Small Business, Tourism and Marketplace Services Sector, Industry Canada; and Eric Dagenais, Director-General, Small Business Branch, Industry Canada. The presentations on various aspects of managing a small business, ranging from registration, statutory licencing requirements to loan financing were followed by a lively question and answer session, plus discussion on the challenges and opportunities for individuals either planning to initiate a small business or diversify or expand an existing business. Under the leadership of their President Tunde Bello, NPBN connects Nigerian Canadians in various professions and businesses with each other and with like-minded people from other communities in an environment of mutual support, mentorship and learning.
