Good morning folks
Hope you and your loved ones are keeping safe and well. Spring is here and summer is just round the corner, bringing with it hopes of warmth and open spaces, where we can lounge and relax and forget memories of the cold winter past.
Our Top Story for May 2024 is the awards for outstanding community leadership by Ottawa’s DreamKEEPERS, a long-standing celebration to commemorate the late civil rights icon, Martin Luther King Jnr. Our congratulations to award winners, Yomi Pratt, Carol Campbell-Daley and Gelila Geremew. Equal recognition also goes to the four mothers being honoured by their children as part of our Mothers’ Day Tributes on 12 May 2024.
Among the major news stories we have is Prof Nduka Otiono’s launch of two books, which he smartly combined with his 60th birthday celebration. We also bring you the launch of the new Executive Committee of the Liberian Association of Ottawa.
In this edition we also bring you Kwaku Kusi-Appiah’s insight on the UN Decade on People of African descent, while columnist Dave Tulloch narrates the 50-year history of the Rockers Sports club. Published writer Ifeoma Chinwuba also gives us a interesting review of the book: Miracle of Mercy.
