The annual Dapo Agoro Funday took place at the Blackburn Community Park on Saturday 31 August 2024. A day to honour the life of a promising young man whose life was tragically cut short by unprovoked and unwarranted youth violence 22 years ago. Black Ottawa Scene brings you images and a video from the event.

The Dapo Agoro Foundation for Peace was created in memory of Dapo Agoro, a promising young man who was murdered after intervening to halt a fight. He died trying to make peace. The foundation is looking to bring Ottawa’s youth and the community at large together to fight against the rise of youth violence. The devastation and loss of life that it causes is overwhelming. The Foundation for Peace serves as a non-profit organization aimed at bringing awareness to the increasing prevalence of knives among today’s youth and to promote non-violent conflict resolution.
