Nigerians in the national capital region celebrated the Christmas season in the style to which they have been accustomed. Regional groups such as the Akwa-Cross Association, Isokan Yoruba and Igbo Association held parties at various venues to mark the festive season. As usual, all parties were open to all people of Nigerian ancestry, their families and friends. A marked difference from the past was the introduction of a cover charge, a change from the pot-luck which had characterized some social events in the past. Of course these parties provide an opportunity, not only to let your hair down, but also to show off the splendour of your most glamorous aso oke, lace, iro and buba, Guinea brocade and other splendid apparels for which the country is well known. The food was bountiful, the music titillating and a good time was had by all.
