Kika Otiono

Black Ottawa Scene’s Associate Editor Kika Otiono has added another award to an already illustrious list of academic and community awards. She was one of the recipients of the 2022 American Urological Association Summer Medical Student Fellowships. Kika is currently a third-year medical student at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario.
The American Urological Association Summer Medical Student Fellowship Program provides a stipend for outstanding medical students to pursue research in urology through a ten-week mentored program with urologic scientists. Kika’s project is titled “Assessment of health-related quality of life outcomes in patients undergoing radiofrequency ablation or partial nephrectomy for small renal masses” and will aid the urologic community with treatment decision-making and follow-up for patients being treated for localized kidney cancer.
