On December 5, 2014, at Carleton University, the Somali Women’s Circle Network in collaboration with the Institute of African Studies and the Department of English presented an evening with renowned author Somali author Nurrudin Farah. The audience heard various inspiring and insightful presentations on Gender Equity and Security. Besides touching briefly on his latest novel, Hiding in Plain Sight, Mr. Farah joined in the launch of a fund in honour of his late sister Basra Farah Hassan. The diplomat was killed in a bombing in January 2014 while working with the United Nations in Kabul, Afghanistan.
