Book title: My Grandmother’s Bed
Author: Nessa Sherwood
Reviewer: Annette Ejiofor, Associate Editor
Nessa Bedward Sherwood returns with My Grandmother’s Bed, a short children’s book of pure poetry, nostalgia, and warm artistry. This book follows her initially released, The Intrepid Soul, a collection of Sherwood’s work of poems inspired by her family, friends, and loved ones. My Grandmother’s Bed speaks softly of memories of the granddaughter. Memories of playing with friends, hiding away from the thunder and lightning that nature often brings, and of easier times as a child. The bed possibly symbolizing the warmth, safety, and serenity, the grandmother brought and exhibited for the granddaughter. Coupled with the impeccable imagery and artistry by Canadian illustrator-animator, Lolo Desrosiers-Guitte, My Grandmother’s Bed is a warm recollection for children, and arguably adults, of all ages.
Thank you Annette for the beautiful way in which you reviewed my book, reading it immediately took me back to that place in time, and I loved that feeling.
Thanks again.
Nessa.
