Build a better family budget with this tip
(NC) Keeping track of finances can seem like a full-time job for many families. But keeping your budget in check is easier than you think. It starts with some simple planning and tools already at hand.
When used responsibly, rewards credit cards can be one way to find some extra help for your budget. In fact, 84 per cent of Canadians would be likely to use a rewards credit card if it helped them with their household budget each month, according to a recent survey conducted by Leger on behalf of Walmart Canada Bank.
Still, many of us don’t think rewards credit cards are great ways to earn everyday items, or even bigger-ticket treats. The key is to look for a card that complements how you already spend to keep your plan on track.
To find the right rewards credit card for you, consider these tips:
- Watch out for annual fees. According to the survey, our least favourite part of a credit card is the annual fee. Fortunately, there are many no-fee options out there.
- Earn rewards quickly. Find a card that earns you rewards on items you will already be buying.
- Earn rewards that can be redeemed for what you actually want. Some cards offer cash back, others offer travel rewards and some rewards credit cards let you redeem for everyday items at your favourite store. Decide what works best for your family and compare your options.
