Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenny and several dignitaries were on hand to celebrate the 2014 Black History Month on Thursday 6 February at the Canadian War Museum. The event also also marked the 100th anniversary of World War 1, and the 75th anniversary of World War 11. Robert Downey a third generation direct descendant of members of the No.2 Construction Battalion spoke of how this entirely Black military contingent overcame incredible obstacles to distinguish themselves in World War 1. Singer Angelique Francis was there to entertain in her unique inimitable style.
