Saturday 5 August
Thousands of people took to the streets of Toronto Saturday, some from as far away as New York, Boston, Alabama, Montreal, Ottawa and Vancouver, to take in the 2017 Caribbean Carnival, formerly known as Caribana. A light drizzle did nothing to dampen the festive spirit, as they danced with and cheered the hundreds of colourfully-clad masqueraders, to the pounding rhythm of music that symbolizes all things Caribbean. Among the revellers in the grand parade were Ontario Premier, Kathleen Wynn, Toronto Mayor John Tory, Progressive Conservative leader Patrick Brown and NDP leader Andrea Horvath.
