Hundreds of families and friends of Ottawa’s Igbo Catholic community assembled at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church on St. Laurent Blvd to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Igbo-language church. Among the special guests were Bishop Christian Riesbeck; Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Canada Chief Ojo Maduekwe; the Knights of Columbus and other distinguished guests. The Igbo-language church holds a mass in Igbo on the last Sunday of each month. The church’s coordinator is Ike Nnebe.
