Saturday 11 November
Volunteer-extraordinaire Joanne Robinson was at it again, doing what she does best, assisting and supporting a volunteer engagement event, this time on behalf of the Jamaican Ottawa Community Association (JOCA), as they hosted their annual volunteer appreciation day. The event was held at the Unitarian Church on MacArthur road, in Ottawa’s east end. Some sixty members of the association, their families and friends were on hand to say a big “thank you” to the volunteers who, over the years, helped in making JOCA one of the most successful Black community organisations in Ottawa. Kudos to the Executive Committee of JOCA for a great evening: Judith Headley (President); Myra Flash; Kevin Cole; Horace Roxborough; Eglan Grant and Lynn Burrell.
