Tess Essentials’ Aba and Michael Tsiagbey at the Ujamaa Market

Over forty African and Caribbean vendors and entrepreneurs were at the tom Brown arena on Bayview Avenue to display their wares and products at the 2024 Ujamaa Market Day, hosted by Jaku Konbit. Exhibits ranged from beauty and health products, African-themed jewelry, T-shirt designs, exotic clothing and other fashion designs, arts and crafts, children’s toys, plus traditional African and Caribbean foods. According to Ken Campbell, President of Jaku Konbit, the Ujamaa market is an annual event to showcase African, Caribbean ad Black businesses and give them an opportunity to display the excellent products and services, hitherto not given much in the way of publicity.

Black Ottawa Scene was there to bring readers photos of this unique community event.
