The Ottawa YMCA-YWCA capped off a month of Black History Month celebrations with a closing ceremony at their downtown location on Argyle Street. Easily the highlight of the evening was the two keynote speakers father and son John and Adrian Harewood, each of whom told their life stories from their individual vantage points. Drummers Hamid and Sahal fired the opening “salvo” in a slate of cultural entertainment, followed by Ottawa’s singing sensation Angelique Francis and closing out with Ugandan traditional dancers led by Elizabeth Kizito.
