In response to the hurricane that recently devastated much of the tiny island of Dominica, the Rotary Club of Ottawa South, organized a number of fund-raising events to assist those residents affected by this natural disaster. These events were held in partnership with a number of community organizations and like-minded individuals. During the annual Jounen Kweyol event organized by the St. Lucia community, it raised close to $2000 through a silent auction and donations. Another $3000 was realized at their Art Sale and Silent Auction sponsored by Suzan Lavertu, School of Afro-Caribbean Dance. The rest was collected through donations from the Ottawa Community at large. To date, the club has raised a total of $12,800 from various activities.
