Wednesday 30 July 2014, Ben Franklin Place

About thirty seniors gathered at the Council chambers of Ben Franklin Place in the city’s west end for a seminar on how to manage their finances. Organized by Black History Ottawa and titled ” Managing your finances through the golden years”,  the event aimed to increase the knowledge of seniors and those approaching retirement on how to manage their finances on a reduced income, following retirement. The event was the first in a series of four seminars covering Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security, Mutual and Segregated funds, Registered Retirement Savings Plans (RRSPs), Registered Retirement Income Funds (RRIF’s), and prevention of  financial abuse or fraud. The seminars are funded in part by the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors’ program.
