Hundreds of youth, parents and teachers were at the Ben Franklin Place on Centrepointe Drive, as the Somali community continued its program of community engagement by addressing challenges facing their youth in achieving their full potential in the school system, an interactive workshop aptly titled “The Awakening: Education, Knowledge and Power”.  Participants were treated to an evening of insightful presentations and panel discussions by teachers and educational experts, focusing on strategies to improve the performance of those students facing diverse barriers in achieving their educational and career goals.
